2001:
Medical Clinic and Qualified Staff
Labadie is remote and medical care has been poor
to non-existent in the area. People have died due to being unable
to reach help in time, or from improperly administered care. HTFH
now provides free medical care. A comfortable, roomy structure serves
as home for a qualified on-site doctor, his nurse and their families.
As well, it is a medical clinic for the people. Immunizations, general
care and emergencies are handled here. Medications, equipment etc,
are made possible mostly through the generousity of the Canadian
and American hospitals who donate supplies. Cases requiring more
extensive care will be properly referred, and assisted in their
travel to a hospital in Cap Haitien.
2001: Haitian Experience Sponsorship
HTFH is willing to provide room and board to
any Western World medical personnel wishing to do part of their
practical experience as volunteer work in Haiti. What a wonderful
opportunity to give to a people so in need, while developing the
necessary skills to work in the medical field in the first world.
In March, a retired Windsor, Ontario nurse accompanied the Mission
Experience Group to check out this very opportunity.
